Meet our family!
Our family has been in the winemaking business for many generations providing grapes from our vineyards for local producers. 2010 marks our wine craft début with our first lot of Douro wines.
In 2014, we decided to increase our production and started receiving guests in our B&B overlooking the steep hills filled with vineyards, that surround Peso da Régua.
Our family focuses on making high-quality and delicious small lot wines and olive oil from Douro, Portugal. Gueda wines are best paired with memorable occasions, great music, warm people, amusing stories, romantic dates, and family barbecues and dinners.
We are simple folk, always keen to go the extra mile for your satisfaction and we have learned over the years the joys of hard work and the honour of providing amazing wines for all our friends.

A sudden shift in their lives led Luis and Margarida to take charge of their estate, finishing the reconstruction of the buildings of Casa do Romezal and taking the first steps towards the production of wines out of their vineyards.
“Fulfilling the work of my father has been a task filled with love but also with the fear of failure. We are now proud but always feel the need to do more. We want to provide our visitors with something unique”
We decided, from the very beginning to invest in an exclusive and private business model. We are a family and welcome people as if they were family as well.

The Douro, with its dramatic geography and huge numbers of small producers, is an extraordinary place for those who are in search of an wine experience, much more than just a produce, Luís believes.
“Each of our wines are different aspects of life, extensions of ourselves, of our soul. They are the various moments in which opening a bottle makes every sense. That is the beauty of the Douro: its ability to deliver elegant, complex, distinct wines.”

Casa do Romezal B&B is the personal project of Margarida, a business concept that happened after other work experiences but is the proof of that umbilical tie to the place we call home.
“There is something magical about being in contact with nature. There is quality of life here, organic fruits, baker’s yeast and summer nights laying on our backs waiting for a shooting star”
The main building of our estate was a pile of rubble in 2006 and transforming it in a acclaimed accommodation facility has been her task for the past years.
“I want our guests and visitors to enjoy an authentic experience. That’s why I bake bread fro breakfast and make jams out of what our fruit orchards provide and that’s why people always ask me to share the recipe for one of my cakes when it’s time to say goodbye”
